{"id":5038,"date":"2017-12-06T13:25:24","date_gmt":"2017-12-06T21:25:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/origin-www.parsons.com\/?p=5038"},"modified":"2017-12-06T13:25:24","modified_gmt":"2017-12-06T21:25:24","slug":"east-end-crossing-project-wins-platinum-2018-engineering-excellence-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.parsons.com\/2017\/12\/east-end-crossing-project-wins-platinum-2018-engineering-excellence-award\/","title":{"rendered":"East End Crossing Project Wins Platinum 2018 Engineering Excellence Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_5039\" style=\"width: 565px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5039\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5039\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/East-End-Bridge-Credit-Aerial-Innovations.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"555\" height=\"484\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5039\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Credit: Aerial Innovations<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We\u2019re thrilled that the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York has honored the Ohio River Bridges East End Crossing project\u2014which includes the new Lewis and Clark Bridge\u2014with its highest award for engineering excellence in the Structural Systems category.<\/p>\n<p>The Indiana Department of Transportation\u2019s (INDOT\u2019s) $763 million public-private partnership (P3) project connects the east end of Louisville, KY, with Southern Indiana via a 2,300-ft-long cable-stayed bridge with a pedestrian and bicycle path, 8 miles of new terrain highway, and a 1,700-ft twin bore tunnel under a historic property.<\/p>\n<p>Parsons was the lead partner in the Community Transportation Solutions joint venture that served as INDOT\u2019s general engineering consultant for the overall project. In addition, we were the technical advisor for implementing the East End Crossing P3, which consisted of developing, designing, constructing, financing, operating, and maintaining the cable-stayed bridge and its approaches in both Indiana and Kentucky. In 2016, the project received the Envision\u2122 Platinum certification for sustainability, making it the first bridge, first bi-state project, and one of the largest projects at the time to receive
