For Parsons, the disaster was a call to action.<\/p>\n<p>In the weeks after the earthquake, Parsons mobilized our engineers and architects in Mexico City and in the U.S. to perform structural safety assessments of damaged structures and to red flag unsafe buildings. We organized three teams of 10 volunteers that conducted two trips a week for six weeks, inspecting hundreds of schools, residential buildings, commercial buildings, and hospitals across the region. Working with local organizations \u2013 including the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (<em>Secretar\u00eda de Comunicaciones y Transportes)<\/em>, the Airport Group of Mexico City (<em>Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico<\/em>), and the Mexican College of Civil Engineers (<em>Colegio de Ingenieros Civiles de M\u00e9xico<\/em>) \u2013 our teams worked 12-hour days, assessing structures, photographing, and providing reports that determined which buildings should be demolished.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Parsons volunteers inspected the tunnels and bridges along the new Toluca-Mexico City commuter rail, which will ultimately link to the New International Airport of Mexico (<em>Nuevo Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de<\/em> <em>M\u00e9xico<\/em>, NAICM).<\/p>\n<p>We are invested in the communities we serve, and as part of our Parsons Gives Back Program, we seek to find ways to contribute to them.
