NAC comprises industry leaders whose present or past professional careers demonstrate outstanding contributions to the engineering and construction industry. Academy membership is extended to fewer than 1% of the nation\u2019s engineering and construction professionals. An induction ceremony was held October 20 at the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley, CA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am honored to be a member of the National Academy and humbled by this recognition by my colleagues,\u201d stated Leketa. \u201cI have had the privilege, throughout my career, to lead a series of significant projects, from Iraq reconstruction to the Salt Waste Processing Facility project, which completed construction in April of this year. As a member of the Academy, I look forward to sharing the knowledge learned through these experiences with the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTony has been a key member of Parsons\u2019 leadership team for more than 10 years,\u201d stated Tom Roell, Parsons Vice Chairman and Group President. \u201cI congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Leketa, a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts, has more than 40 years of experience managing design and construction programs and projects around the globe. In his current role, he oversees construction services for Parsons\u2019 Federal business unit, including the execution of the Department of Energy\u2019s Salt Waste Processing Facility, a first-of-its-kind project valued at $2.3 billion. Since joining Parsons in 2005, he has held a series of senior leadership positions, including President of Parsons Water &amp; Infrastructure, then one of Parsons\u2019 four global business units; Senior Vice President, Division Manager, Installations &amp; Environment; and Vice President, Deputy Division Manager, Energy, Systems &amp; Security. Mr. Leketa retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a member of the Senior Executive Service, the highest level of career civil service, after a 35-year career. Among his career achievements are oversight of the Iraq Infrastructure Reconstruction Program, the Everglades Restoration Program, and a $4 billion worldwide Army planning, design, and construction program.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Leketa is a Fellow and past President of the Society of American Military Engineers and a Fellow in the American Society of Civil Engineers. He holds an MS in civil engineering and a BS in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College.<\/p>\n<p>The National Academy of Construction, established in 1999, is an organization of industry leaders who have made significant contributions to the engineering and construction industry. In addition to being a personal honor, election to the Academy allows members to volunteer their expertise to a variety of organizations, governmental and nongovernmental, for the betterment of the industry as a whole. The 2016 class included 30 new inductees. More than 300 industry leaders were considered for the NAC\u2019s rigorous nomination and election process. The election of members to the NAC follows a peer-nomination and peer-selection process that creates a select candidate list. The new members are then elected out of that candidate list by the entire academy.
