The project is Georgia\u2019s first implementation of reversible\ntolled express lanes \u2012 implemented\non Atlanta\u2019s I\u201175 South Metro and Northwest Corridor roadways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parsons was involved in all aspects of the new reversible\nlanes. In addition to providing technology to re-use and expand GDOT\u2019s advanced\ntransportation management system (ATMS) along 42 miles of new highway\ninfrastructure, the corporation\u2019s traffic incident management experts trained\nthousands of roadway and emergency responders. The company also served as lead\ndesigner for the extensive civil engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re proud to have continuously delivered intelligent\ntransportation system solutions to Atlanta since our partnership began during the\n1996 Atlanta Olympics,\u201d said Donald Graul, connected communities market leader\nfor Parsons. \u201cThis project exemplifies how Parsons\u2019 technology can improve\nmobility of the traveling public, increase their safety and reduce the region\u2019s\ncarbon footprint.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of the project\u2019s success, GDOT reported that morning\nrush hour congestion now forms an hour later and clears an hour sooner, speeds\nin the general-purpose lanes are 10-15 mph faster, speeds in the express lanes\nare 30 percent faster than the general purpose lanes, and more than six million\nexpress lane trips have been registered over the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Northwest Corridor Express Lanes project was recently\nhonored by the Design-Build Institute of America with a National Award of\nExcellence in Transportation, and it also received the People\u2019s Choice Award in\nthe 2019 America\u2019s
