Also at the conference, Ms. Walker Ford was appointed to the Board of Directors of the American Public Transportation Foundation, APTA\u2019s charitable affiliate.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Walker Ford has more than 20 years of transportation leadership experience, including program management and management consulting in the public and private sectors. Her diverse background includes aviation as well as rail and transit systems. She has expertise in developing and implementing business, technology, and financial solutions and strategies for organizational change, stakeholder engagement, and communications, as well as government relations and business development.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Walker Ford has served as Deputy Program Director for the Philadelphia International Airport\u2019s multimillion dollar Capacity Enhancement Program and as the Deputy CEO\/Deputy General Manager for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, during which time she provided leadership for the design and installation of the Breeze Program, a $200 million, state-of-the art, smartcard-based regional fare collection system\u2014the first in North America.<\/p>\n<p>APTA is an international organization that has been representing the transit industry for more than 100 years, since 1882. APTA members serve the public interest by providing safe, efficient, and economical transit services and by improving those services to meet national energy, environmental, and financial
