The two-year, cost plus fixed fee amendment from\nPublic Services and Procurement Canada, on behalf of Crown-Indigenous Relations\nand Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), continues efforts at the former gold mine\nto contain and manage arsenic trioxide and protect human and environmental\nhealth and safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor over six years, we have been working closely with the\nGovernment of Canada to keep the site in a safe and stable condition until\ncleanup efforts can begin, in the interests of creating a safer, healthier and\nprosperous community,\u201d said Jon Moretta, executive vice president, industrial,\nfor Parsons. \u201cEnvironmental sustainability and protection is everyone\u2019s\nresponsibility as we try to create a better world, and we\u2019re excited that\nParsons can play a small role in improving life in Canada as the project shifts\ninto the active remediation phase in the coming years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parsons is the sole prime contractor for the mine\u2019s final\nremediation program. The corporation\u2019s initial contract at the site \u2014 one of the\nlargest environmental remediation projects in Canada \u2014 began in 2013 with the\ndecontamination and deconstruction of the mine\u2019s roaster complex. Parsons also\nprovides care and maintenance and construction management for CIRNAC at the Faro\nMine complex in Yukon Territory.
