The project owner is Etihad Rail PSJC, and Parsons provided project management services for Stage 1 in a joint venture with AECOM.<\/p>\n<p>Etihad Rail, the United Arab Emirates\u2019 (UAE\u2019s) national railway network, is a 1,200\u2011km freight and passenger railway network that will serve the entire UAE and form part of the GCC rail system connecting the UAE to Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEtihad Rail is strategically important to the UAE and the entire GCC,\u201d said Gary Adams, Parsons Group President. \u201cOur team successfully delivered Stage 1 on schedule, meeting the challenges associated with such a large-scale rail project, and it is very rewarding to see the project recognized with additional awards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The GCC Project of the Year and UAE Mega Project of the Year awards are the third and fourth awards the Etihad Rail Stage 1 project has received. <em>Engineering News-Record<\/em> magazine also recognized the project with the\u00a0<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/15-07-mea-etihad-rail-award.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Award of Merit<\/a>\u00a0in the Rail category for its Global Best Project Awards, and <em>Construction Week<\/em> magazine selected the project as its\u00a0<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/15-12-mea-etihad-rail-construction-week-award.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Infrastructure Project of the Year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Parsons has been working in the Middle East Africa region for more than 60 years and has offices in the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain. Parsons\u2019 portfolio of ongoing work in the region includes major oil and gas projects as well as highways, bridges, rail and transit, airports, ports, water infrastructure, plus hospitals, public
