Walker Ford, Vice President and North America Director of Policy &amp; Strategic Programs for the corporation\u2019s transportation market, has been elected to the Executive Board of Directors of Women in Transportation Seminar (WTS) International, an organization dedicated to building the future of transportation through the global advancement of women. Ms. Walker Ford will begin her 2-year term as Secretary on May 20, 2016, at the close of the WTS Annual Conference in Austin, TX.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough Jannet\u2019s volunteer service on the WTS International Executive Board of Directors, I am confident she will make a major contribution to WTS\u2019 mission of advancing both the transportation industry and the professional growth of the women who are part of it,\u201d said Michael Johnson, Parsons Group President.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Walker Ford added, \u201cI look forward to serving on the WTS International Executive Board of Directors, supporting its efforts to attract, retain, and advance women in transportation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Walker Ford has more than 20 years of transportation leadership experience, including program management and management consulting in the public and private sectors. Her diverse background includes aviation as well as rail and transit systems. She has expertise in developing and implementing business, technology, and financial solutions and strategies for organizational change, stakeholder engagement and communications, as well as government relations and business development. Ms. Walker Ford has served as Deputy Program Director for the Philadelphia International Airport\u2019s multimillion dollar Capacity Enhancement Program and as the Deputy CEO\/Deputy General Manager for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, during which time she provided leadership for the design and installation of the Breeze Program, a $200 million, state of the art, smartcard based regional fare collection system\u2014the first in North America.<\/p>\n<p>Parsons is a long time supporter of WTS at both the international and local levels, and many of its employees hold memberships or leadership positions in the organization. As a WTS International Champion Corporate Partner, Parsons makes a substantial commitment in support of WTS\u2019 programs and operations. In addition, through Parsons\u2019 support of the WTS \u201cTransportation YOU\u201d program, girls ages 13 to 18 are introduced to various transportation careers through hands-on, interactive mentoring. The corporation also partnered with the WTS Toronto Area Chapter to launch its scholarship program and provided two academic scholarships for students focused on transportation-related studies.
