The TETRA system, which has been used extensively in Europe and recently introduced in the United States, combines dispatching and two-way mobile radio capability, offering fast, reliable, and secure data and voice communications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParsons is pleased to be selected for the replacement of MTA\u2019s current 25-year-old bus radio system,\u201d said Michael Johnson, Parsons Group President. \u201cOur global industry experience and coordination\/licensing successes with the Federal Communications Commission allow us to deliver an end-to-end, next-generation solution to the MTA that addresses the agency\u2019s technical requirements and meets its high-capacity communication needs across a wide geographic area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 58-month contract calls for maintaining the existing radio operations while retrofitting the fleet with new mobile radios. It also calls for providing 1,250 portable radios and the communications infrastructure to support the new system using 35 radio sites.
