Since then, due to the rapid increase in air travelers and the development of innovative technology, the outdated terminal could not keep up with daily operations.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, the Port Authority of New York &amp; New Jersey (PANYNJ) awarded Parsons, as part of a joint venture with Tutor Perini, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parsons.com\/2018\/02\/parsons-wins-panynjs-design-build-contract-terminal-one-newark-airport\/\">design-build contract<\/a> to transform Terminal A into a modernized space that delivers world-class customer experience to its 14 million annual passengers. Terminal design provided more space, adding 60% more seating capacity.
