{"id":28455,"date":"2024-05-21T12:28:10","date_gmt":"2024-05-21T16:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.parsons.com\/?post_type=project&#038;p=28455"},"modified":"2024-06-05T14:30:37","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T18:30:37","slug":"tunnel-stabilization-and-sewer-pipeline-replacement-laguna-beach-ca","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/www.parsons.com\/project\/tunnel-stabilization-and-sewer-pipeline-replacement-laguna-beach-ca\/","title":{"rendered":"Tunnel Stabilization And Sewer Pipeline Replacement \u2014 Laguna Beach, CA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The South Coast Water District operates the Beach Interceptor Sewer Tunnel located beneath the coastal bluffs in the city of Laguna Beach, California. <\/strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scwd.org\/about\/district_projects\/tunnel_stabilization_sewer_pipeline_replacement_project\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rehabilitation efforts<\/a> of the 70-year-old sewer tunnel include the stabilization and enlargement of a 10,000-foot horseshoe-shaped tunnel from five feet wide by six feet high to eight feet wide by eight feet high horseshoe-shaped tunnel using roadheader excavation and conventional ground support. The old deteriorated \u2018Techite\u2019 and VCP pipes have been replaced with a new 24-inch C900 PVC sewer pipe. The program also includes tunnel portals and adits modifications, dozens of lateral and utility relocations, pipe slip linings, and permanent tunnel ventilation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-our-role-in-upgrading-south-coast-s-sewer-system\">Our Role In Upgrading South Coast&#8217;s Sewer System<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We provided preconstruction services, including value engineering, seismic stability analyses, and risk assessment to the South Coast Water District. Additionally, we have provided bid support, design reviews, and construction management services since 2016. Construction is currently in the final of four phases. Tunnel excavation and support and the installation of a new 24-inch PVC sewer pipe were completed in mid-year 2023.
